FEERIEE 13

Finally, a new blog post, woho!   I have ordered some ceramic decals from Etsy ( something new for me to play with, yay ) so I was super excited to start working with them. I made many errors but have learned a few things as well, that I will share with you. So, here is my little polymer experiment. What I tried to achieve were small tiles that would look as made of stone or wood, with art images that seem to have faded with time, like the ones below.    Below are my results ~ they took me about five hours to finish because they have many layers of paint and glaze and I had to let each layer dry. I'm going to try to explain the process in a few very simple steps, if you want to give it a try. Hi guys!! It's me, the 13th Feeriee...remember me?? I know, I tend to journey pretty often into my La La Land... but, I do bring a lot of good stuff back with me.   Oh, I've read somewhere that the 13th Fairy never gets invited to the ball ~ nonsense!! She gets invited all the time, she's just too busy making jewelry. Anyways, I was wasting time  looking for some inspiration on Pinterest the other day, when I saw  these earrings ...pretty awesome, right? All my past soldering attempts ended up in me soldering my finger tips and making a lot of mess. This time I think I got it. I can finally use my undrilled glass and gemstone pieces without having to drill them for hours (even worst than soldering). All you need is a soldering iron, flux, solder and some copper tape. First, remove any burnable or meltable items from your work area. Get a a fire extinguisher nah. I choose a cheap piece of glass for my first try, just in case it gets messed up. Make sure it's super clean. I cleaned mine with a paper towel. Wrap the edges with copper foil tape, peeling off the tape as you go. Plug in the soldering iron and allow it to heat up for a couple minutes. Touch the tip to a damp sponge to see if it's hot, not with your fingers.
