The Egg ~ food for thought and earrings photos for inspiration

Image
A quick post, just to share a couple of pictures and one of my favorite short stories ever, The Egg. I have read it a few years ago and loved it. It has been translated in many languages and many people know it, but for those who don't, here it is: "You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. And that’s when you met me. “What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?” “You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words. “There was a… a truck and it was skidding…” “Yup,” I said. “I… I died?” “Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said. You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked. “Is this the afterlife?” “More or less,” I said. “Are you god...

Inspiration for Today

“If you're reading this... Congratulations, you're alive. If that's not something to smile about, then I don't know what is.”  ― Chad Sugg, Monsters Under Your Head Browsing museums online, chasing inspiration...I can't remember where I saved these pictures from, I didn't save the links because I had no intention of sharing them, but on second thought, how can I not share them?   I mean, just look at them...such artistry, such brilliance...enchanting! What else can one aspire to? It seemed so selfish keeping them hidden in my Inspiration folder...what if somebody needs to see them today ? I don't think I'm breaking any copyright laws since they're in a museum..? Anyone? If you happen to know something about them or if you have a link to the museum, please let me know and I'll post it. *Edit. Got it, from British Museum  HERE. So, if you needed some inspiration today, I hope you found it. :)  “And now here is m...

Vintage Beauties

Image
Hi guys, how have you been? All is good, I hope! :) I'm really excited about this new pair of earrings, let me tell you a little bit about it: these adorable fish charms are articulate, very moveable and flexible, made of 14K gold, hallmarked. Where did I get them from? My Antique Lady! I did some research on them and found out that they were made circa 1900-1920s ~ 100 years old!?! They have two intact Red Ruby Round Cut Gems set as the eyes in a four prong setting and their price is about...$99 a piece, wow! Here for $99 , here for $360, this one is bigger, not so many details though.   Here's a similar fish for $798 (!!) 9K gold from 1890! How do they come up with these prices, I wonder..? $798 for a 9k gold fish from 1890, my fish are from 1900-1920, about 10 to 30 years younger, that would make them worth...well, it's art, I guess you could price it anywhere. Supply and demand. Just give me $200 for them and we're good. Kidding. Or not. W...

Shine

Image
“Maybe we're just falling stars, we once danced in the same skyline looking down at the world.     And we've fallen like all others, from near and far, we've gathered together, but separated by time and space, keeping a part of that light that we've came with and spreading it in this dark world that we've chosen to live in, in order to shine some light and love around.   Maybe we've chosen to believe one truth today, and find it to be false tomorrow. Maybe we're trying to not get attached to the idea that we now know it all.     At night, we see the truth of where we've fallen from, gazing in that night sky full of distant stars, constellations, planets, the reflection of the Sun on the Moon, all with their own stories to tell.   Sometimes we wonder why would we leave such a mysterious place, with an infinite amount of stories and wonders.  Maybe it's because as stars we could've only seen each other's light from ...

Last month, my talented friend Solange from  YeeLeN SpiRiT DeSiGnS  hosted this awesome giveaway and guess what: I won ! :) First time when I had actually won a giveaway, imagine my surprise and excitement. Look at this little treasure she sent, all these beautiful colors and textures make me so happy. And those African beads look ancient, love them! These are no ordinary beads, I feel like I have to use them for something meaningful to do them justice.
