Easy Stone Setting and other Jewelry Design Ideas To Try plus Great Jewelry Designers/Websites To Learn From

Image
I have recently bought a lot of loose faceted natural gemstones, all great clarity and color, and while I was in awe admiring them it dawned to me that I have never set stones before (  gasp ! )  so I started looking up online easy stone setting methods for beginners, like me. And there it is, click on it... Easy Stone Setting Something like this looks easy and professional, of course you have to measure the stones first. I could try to make my own, perhaps I will one day, but for this price is it worth the time? And how do I place this text in the middle of the two pictures above, anyone knows?!? Ughhh....forget it. This blogging thing is Chinese to me. I have to bookmark this shop on Ebay, good prices and free shipping over $50 And, you know how you start looking up something and end up in a totally different place? Well, this is exactly what happened today, but instead of getting trapped for hours in some useless internet black hole like I usually do, ...

On the right way

This one sold yesterday, $10 including shipping. Because I only saw the sale today, a day late, I'm sending it express 2 day shipping. I want my customer to receive it by Friday, as he was supposed to, domestic shipping shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 days. The shipping was $6.50 + Etsy charges...I guess that leaves me with about 3 bucks.  I wanted to send him something extra so I have also included these two guys, plus some drilled Carnelian chips and a pair of doves carved from shells, to match.  All that is worth more than 3 bucks so I guess my business is experiencing negative profit right now. Heck, I'm such a good business woman!  But hey, I want my customers to be happy, to feel that they've got their money's worth and more . To open that package and feel like it's Christmas.   I want them to love it. Making jewelry is my passion. Bringing joy to others through my passion is my dream. Turning my passion into a profitable business i...

Vintage Beauties

Image
Hi guys, how have you been? All is good, I hope! :) I'm really excited about this new pair of earrings, let me tell you a little bit about it: these adorable fish charms are articulate, very moveable and flexible, made of 14K gold, hallmarked. Where did I get them from? My Antique Lady! I did some research on them and found out that they were made circa 1900-1920s ~ 100 years old!?! They have two intact Red Ruby Round Cut Gems set as the eyes in a four prong setting and their price is about...$99 a piece, wow! Here for $99 , here for $360, this one is bigger, not so many details though.   Here's a similar fish for $798 (!!) 9K gold from 1890! How do they come up with these prices, I wonder..? $798 for a 9k gold fish from 1890, my fish are from 1900-1920, about 10 to 30 years younger, that would make them worth...well, it's art, I guess you could price it anywhere. Supply and demand. Just give me $200 for them and we're good. Kidding. Or not. W...

Polymer Roses :)

Image
I made a few more polymer flowers to list in my Etsy store. Here's a quick preview: Each and every one of them is unique, hand sculpted, I don't use molds. After they're cured, I apply the paint, layer by layer...remove, repeat...it takes hours... ...but the perfect colors and shades are reached and in the end, it's all worthed. I love them. My favourite pair...they look like salvaged porcelain flowers, with ripped off edges...I think I'm going to keep these for myself. I'm thinking $15 each pair...I don't know if anyone is willing to pay that...I can't sell them cheap, they take so much time and work. I'll wait for a week, and if they don't sell I'll turn them into earrings. Earrings always sell. These two pairs sold so fast! See you soon! Love, Laura xo
